Porcelain Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are a great way to completely cover flaws and imperfections at the front of the smile. When your child is unhappy with the way that they look or has a smile that is chipped, cracked, stained or unevenly spaced, we might recommend having porcelain veneers placed. Veneers are incredibly durable and long-lasting, with most of these restorations lasting for 10 or more years. The process to place veneers is just as simple, and is often done in two consecutive appointments.

Why might Porcelain Veneers be needed?

Teens who are otherwise unhappy with their smile can benefit from veneers. Veneers can cover issues like cracks, staining, chips, discoloration, gaps, spaces and uneven-looking teeth. The end result is a full, healthy-looking smile that is just as durable as most other restorations. What’s more, placing the veneers is quick and easy, and little to no anesthetic is required.

Who is a candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

To determine if your child or teen is a candidate for porcelain veneers, we can perform an examination. The exam can give us a clear view of your child’s teeth and whether or not veneers are right for them. Most teens who want veneers can have them placed without any ill effects. Your child’s teeth should be otherwise healthy and free of decay before veneers are placed.

What happens during the Porcelain Veneer procedure?

The veneer process typically requires two separate appointments to complete. The first appointment involves preparing the front teeth to receive the actual veneers. Impressions are then taken and used to make the porcelain veneers. Your child will then come in for a second appointment. This second visit involves placing the actual veneers and adjusting them so that they look as natural as possible. Your child will find that their new smile improves their confidence and helps to hide away many flaws and imperfections that once caused them to feel badly about themselves.
